Mechanical face seals are specifically engineered to penetrate applications in extremely difficult environments, where they withstand severely wear and prevent harsh and abrasive external media. A mechanical face seal is also known as a heavy-duty seal, face seal, lifetime seal, floating seal, duo cone seal, toric seal, mechanism löffwerkdiktungen (German), (Bulgarian), etc.

There are two different types of Mechanical Face Seals / Heavy Duty Seals.

Both variants have two identical metal seal rings face-to-face in two different housings on a different seal face. Metal rings are concentrated by an elastomer element within their home. One half of the mechanical face seal remains fixed in the housing, while the other half rotates along its counter.
